The Bilingual Parenting Podcast is a fairly new podcast series that was just launched in 2019 by Kaila Diaz, a linguist and educator in Virginia. She dedicates each episode to a specific topic of bilingual parenting. For example, in her last episode “Planning for bilingualism while baby is in the womb” she addressed the topic of language maps, the idea that you can graphically depict where you speak what language in your daily interactions. You can then, for instance, use the map to consciously maximize your child’s exposure to the minority language. In short, it is a way of outlining a language plan for your bilingual family–a step that I think is quite useful regardless of your bilingual children’s age.
Although Kaila’s podcast series has a focus on Spanish-English, I found it entertaining and useful for other languages as well. Give it a try: The Bilingual Parenting Podcast.
